Tell Newsom: Enact Key Climate Bills!

California’s 2022 legislative session has come to an end, but our work isn’t done yet! We’re calling on Governor Gavin Newsom to sign and enact a series of key climate bills to ensure significant cuts in greenhouse gas emissions, equitable access to clean transportation and environmental justice. Send a message to the Governor today and urge him to sign SB 1137, SB 1020, SB 1314, SB 1230, SB 1482 and AB 1738.

SB 1020 (Laird) would establish goals within the existing SB 100 legislation to help California reach the target of zero carbon by 2045 by creating a new scoping plan every 5 years to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

SB 1137 (Gonzalez and Limón) would create a minimum health and safety distance of 3,200-feet between sensitive sites, such as a residence, school, childcare facility, playground, hospital, or nursing home, and an oil and gas production well.

SB 1230 (Limón) would accelerate the state's transition to clean transportation by simplifying and streamlining existing clean car incentive programs and making incentives available at the point of sale.

SB 1314 (Limón) would stop oil companies from extracting additional oil from the ground using a method of carbon captured carbon dioxide.

SB 1482 (Allen) would increase EV charging equity by requiring that all newly constructed multi-family housing units have access to an EV-ready parking space.

AB 1738 (Horvath) would require apartment buildings and multi-family units to install EV charging stations and infrastructure in common area parking lots during retrofitting projects.
